Manufacturer

Belkin is a technology company that was created more than 30 years ago in 1983 in sunny California and in 3 decades it has grown from a small company to employing more than 1300 employees and creating more than 2000 products and 200 patents. Belkin makes everything from server side technology to consumer products and their latest line are these energy saving “Conserve Valet” products that also include this F7C008 charging station.

F7C008 Review

Conserve Valet USB charging station with the model number F7C008 is one of Belkin’s eco-friendly inventions and it is a USB charging station and chord organizer that also saves electricity by automatically turning off after your device is charged up.

Design

Belkin has created a stunning product in all the categories but design wise it is something really beautiful as that interesting shape and those colors make this one of the best looking charging station docks out there. The whole thing has the dimensions of 11 inches x 9.5 inches x 2.5 inches (28 cm x 24 cm x 6.3 cm) and it weighs 12.2 ounces (345 grams) so it is a fairly compact device and it is also light weight so there should be no problems with moving this device around but because of that great design you can connect many devices on those 4 USB ports and put them up on that top surface.

Belkin has added 4 rubberized legs as this device is fairly light and these things help to keep it in one place and do not allow it t slip around as you place your devices for charging.  Then moving up there is the whole body that is created from white plastic and has a stylish curved design as well as beautiful functionality but we get to that later on. The whole body has a slight angle pointing downward so you can better set up your devices but that also increases the beauty of this thing as it is not just a box shaped thing but created with the user in mind. At the top there is that top plate that also is inclined but because it has a non-slip surface and small raised edges no devices will fall off from this Android charging dock. At the top there also is the On button that will allow you to turn this device on or off.

Overall the design is great and there are 3 different colors used where the body is white, the top plate is black but the button and the whole backside is green that accents them and adds extra style points.

Functionality

Functionality wise there is nothing much to tell as there are 4 USB ports where 3 of them are at the back but one is on the side and they can be used to charge up almoust any Smartphone, tablet and other gadgets. Belkin has created multiple chord management cut-outs at the middle of this device that can be used to align your charging cables in a convenient manner and use this device as a “home” for all your devices. When you place this dock somewhere in your house it will need only one AC cable that has the plug of a well known design called the “Figure 8” and that makes replacing it that much simpler if you lose or break that cable. As you plug in that AC adapter you can get up to 5V and 2 Amperes out of this charging dock but each individual USB port can supply only 500 mA of current so some newer more energy hungry devices can take longer to charge or won’t charge at all.

There are no additional features unless you count that auto turn-off mechanism that will turn of any particular charging port after 4.5 hours to conserve energy and it will also start the dock as soon as you plug in a new device in any of those ports so there are no need to turn the device on or off all the time.

When you order this dock in the package you get:

  • The docking station itself,
  • USB Type A to Mini-B cord – 1 foot
  • USB Type A to Micro-B cord – 1 foot
  • IEC C7 “Figure 8” power cord – 4.25 foot
  • Users manual.

Conclusion

Overall Belkin has created a really great charging station that can also be used as an Android docking station and those 4 USB ports are great for multiple device charging at the same place creating a “home” like environment for all your electronics and keeping them in one place. The price is great and the design beautiful so I can strongly recommend this dock to anyone that has more than two gadgets that need constant charging.
